League Activities

Wild-N-Wooly Wing Ding:  Saturday, March 6, 2010

This year’s event will be a Wild –N- Wooly Boots-N-Buckles Round-up” and will feature a social hour, entertainment by the “The Radio Stars”, buffet dinner, and dessert, silent and live auctions. Prairie Public Radio’s Merrill Piepkorn will be joining us again this year as our entertaining auctioneer.
 
The event will be held on Saturday, March, 6, 2010, in the Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Bismarck. Dig out your favorite western apparel and join us for fun-filled evening with good food, unique auction items, and dancing. Music and entertainment will be provided by Merrill Piepkorn’s band, the “Radio Stars”. The “Radio Stars” are well known for their authentic western music and have performed throughout North Dakota. They recently entertained in Medora, the Hostfest in Minot, and live on “American Public Radio” with Garrison Keillor.

 Holiday Home Walk: The Sunday before Thanksgiving

A signature event of the League, the Holiday Home Walk is a holiday seasonal tour through select Bismarck-Mandan homes. It always takes place the Sunday before Thanksgiving.   

Prairie Collection Cookbook

Ongoing sales of our own collection of recipes from members of friends of the League.  Call the Symphony office for a copy: 258-8345. 

Education

The League has a great commitment to supporting educational programming with an emphasis on youth development. Programs include: Symphony in Schools, Youth Award Scholarships, Instrument Underwriting, docents in the class rooms, as well as an annual concert for regional 4th graders. 

Hospitality

 The league celebrates our common goals by providing occasions for good food and opportunities to build friendships. A few of these events include annual luncheons, receptions and post-concert orchestra receptions. 

Symphony Office Support

Many League members enjoy working together at the symphony office or for concerts. They often assist with the box office, lobby, as well as mailings and data entry.
