Drumming for Everyone is not about learning to play a drum, but instead uses the metaphor of music as a tool to stimulate listening skills, self-expression, and build morale. A background in music is not necessary or even helpful. The general outcomes of the workshop will be: team building, stress reduction, enhanced listening skills, and stimulation of the creative thought process. The 90 minute workshop is taught by Scott Prebys. The symphony provides instruments and any necessary materials. Workshop participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Call the symphony office to arrange a workshop for your place of business or school and inquire about fees.
Open to North Dakota college students. The winner will receive a monetary prize from the Symphony League and an invitation to perform a full concerto, as featured artist with The Symphony in the 2010-2011 concert season.

The Symphony Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Eric Lawson, Concertmaster for the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra.
It is sponsored by the Bismarck-Mandan Orchestral Association and Bismarck State College.
